Reading and Writing Habits

When I was a kid, I loved to read. I use to get into trouble when I was a kid for hiding a book I was reading in my math book. And I would read almost anything, Even things like the babysitters club, a book largely considered for girls, but I still enjoyed it.

These days I'm a bit behind in my reading, though I'm working on that. Thanks to the kindle app on my iPad, I've been collecting more and more books, plus I've listened to a few on Audible, isn't technology grand?

A few authors I've come to enjoy lately are Yahtzee Croshaw. I have all his books on both kindle and audible, as he narrates his books and he has the perfect voice for it. If you want to hear him talk you can find him on the escapist channel on Youtube. Just search either Zero Punctuation or Dev Diaries. If I had to pick one book as my favorite from him so far, it would probably be Mog World, followed by Differently Morphous.

Next is Mark Cain's circle in hell series. I love this because if there is a hell, this is what I picture it as, not all fire and brimstones like preachers will have you believe, but....well, you'd have to read it for yourself to understand. I've only got the first three books right now, but I highly recommend them.

And then we have what takes up the bulk of my book collection, Light Novels. Light Novels, if you've never heard the term can be considered anime the novelization, as many anime have gotten their start as light novels. Clockwork Planet, The Devil is a Part-Timer, Goblins Slayer, and perhaps one of the most famous ones is Sword Art Online. There are even OELN's or Original English Light Novels. I'm still new to finding these, though I did find a Facebook group dedicated to them. So far the only author I'm familiar with in that category is Brandon Varnell, but I enjoy his works. I think he's local to me, I met him at my local convention.

I've tried to write my own light novels because I love anime so, but I have two problems, One, I haven't figured everything thing out, especially what some would probably consider important parts. Two, I am my own worst critic. I read my writing and feel no one would want to read this. I'd love to see if I could get something published, or at least self-published, but frankly I don't think I'll ever get that far.
