Movies

So I haven't done a blog post in a while, other than put up that little bit of story I had written.  Part of that was I got my first dose of the Covid Vaccine and then after helping my dad with something else, I needed a power nap of about 15 hours if my math is right.  (And even if it's not, that's what I'm going with.)  So I figured I would just pick an easy topic, Movies.  This weekend, I plan on going to see Godzilla Vs Kong, with my Dad.  And I love seeing a movie with my dad.  It almost doesn't matter what kind of movie, though there are movies I know he doesn't have an interest in.  Movies are how I connect with people.  Some of my favorite memories with various people, especially my dad are movies we've seen together.  I still laugh about this, but back when I was in high school my dad took me to see South Park: Bigger, Longer, And Uncut.  And this was before we had cable, So I had never actually seen south park, though I would r...

First story

Oh man.  I debated not doing this to be honest, but if I want to make any progress I'm going to have to bite the bullet and give it a try so Here's my first story that I have been working on, I only have a working title so far.  I figure I'll wait a few days before posting one of the others I've been working on. The Spirit and Other Legends (working title) (Ok, so quick note as I do with all my writing projects right now.  This is the first one where I just wrote something without planning the characters out first, so I don't know if that's going to be bad or good.  Anyways, I'm not sure if it's going to be apparent at the start, but this is a steampunk western.) "So there I was gentlemen," Ben said as he took a look at his cards.  Nothing great.  "Miles off the coast.  The townsfolk had been getting attacked by a great beast in the sea, and I was elected to investigate.  For hours there was nothing, Then finally, When I was getting ready ...

Going to Try Something Different again

So I decided I'm going to try and continue my writing. After all, If I ever want any of my light novels published, I need to actually work on them. The main problem with that however is 1) I got myself stuck trying to figure out where to go with these, and 2) as I said before, I'm my own worst critic, so I'm hoping someone out there can look at these and give me better constructive criticism than I can give myself. I plan to take a bit of time this weekend, run them through spell check and Grammarly, And put them up next week, maybe do one a day, with some notes as well, and see what people say if anything. Though If I had to be honest, I'm not sure I'm looking forward to doing this, as again, I don't think my writing is any good. Maybe this is a point I'm glad I don't have a lot of readers. I'm still working on how I want to do this as well.

30 day challenge in a day

Image
So I figured I'd try something a bit different for this one. I found a bunch of these challenges like 30 this, 30 day that....and so I thought why not try to do them. But I don't know if I want to write a post every day for 30 days. So I figured I would do this. One of these I will just do a long post, going from day 1 to day 30 in just one post. Then I'll try another one and see if doing one post a day works better. Anyways, this is a 30-day blogging challenge. Fitting. Day 1- Your Blog's Name. The name of my blog is my random thoughts because I just write whatever is on my mind, from Super Sentai to car troubles and mass transit. It kind of helps because I don't always have things to talk about on any one subject. Though I think if I were to do a dedicated theme it would be a general anime blog, as it is still a broad subject, and I could talk about old anime as well as current ones. I might decide to do that. Something to think about anyway. Day 2- 20 facts abo...

Reading and Writing Habits

When I was a kid, I loved to read. I use to get into trouble when I was a kid for hiding a book I was reading in my math book. And I would read almost anything, Even things like the babysitters club, a book largely considered for girls, but I still enjoyed it. These days I'm a bit behind in my reading, though I'm working on that. Thanks to the kindle app on my iPad, I've been collecting more and more books, plus I've listened to a few on Audible, isn't technology grand? A few authors I've come to enjoy lately are Yahtzee Croshaw. I have all his books on both kindle and audible, as he narrates his books and he has the perfect voice for it. If you want to hear him talk you can find him on the escapist channel on Youtube. Just search either Zero Punctuation or Dev Diaries. If I had to pick one book as my favorite from him so far, it would probably be Mog World, followed by Differently Morphous. Next is Mark Cain's circle in hell series. I love this because if ...

Car troubles and mass transit

As I sit at a Nissan dealer, having them take a look at a computer issue my car has been having for a bit, I can't help but think of yet another reason I've always wanted to live in Japan. The mass transit system is leaps and bounds over what we have in most of America. Most of America is designed so you either have a car, or you're S.O.L. I lived in a town in Wisconsin for a few months, so small, the bus didn't leave the town. Which made it impossible for a carless me to try to get to the next town to find a job, which is why that's in the past tense. Where I am now we do have a budding light rail system, that while I like, is not expansive enough to really serve. Hell, it's not even near enough for me to make common use of. The only time I use it is for conventions, or If I plan a day of riding it. And while it is ever-expanding, it's a slow process, and I swear every election there's a bill to kill the damn thing by I can only guess oil companies, wh...
