Star Trek Prodigy....I have no idea

So I haven't really written in a while, I havent had much to really talk about. I was going to start working on a project, and I'm still working on it, but I figure this will be a good jumping off for it. I'm going to try writing reviews of shows I watch. It could be old shows, new shows, a lot of it will be anime or tokusatsu related as I really enjoy those, but anyways. Star Trek. Star Trek is a franchise I love a lot. I grew up in the era of the Next Generation, I've seen all the old movies, the origional series, DS9, Voyager, Enterprise, the new movies, and some of the newer stuff. And I haven't been the biggest fan of some of the newer stuff. Star Trek Discovery I am not a big fan of. I'm not going to be one of those who complain about it being “too political” or “sjw” as others will have said, because yes, Star Trek has always been political, and yes, it has always tackled social issues, all though I will say I think they handled that kind of thing better in older series, but that's a matter of opinion. No, one thing that really annoys me is this is not the star trek I think of when I think “hope for the future.” In one of the “short trek” episodes, which is supposed to be some in between filler I think, A captain is sitting down with some crewman I dont know there names, and she's having him transferred because she thinks he's an idiot. And when ever he tries to speak, I assume to ask what his failings were, she cuts him off and says there is no conversation to be had. First, she should go into more detail as to why this is happening, second, most people have pointed out that in the next generation, there was a character named Reginald Barclay who captain picard refused to just transfer away simply cause he was odd. He gave the man a chance to prove himself and Barclay did, in every episode he was in.

I'm going to be honest and admit I haven't watched star trek picard, mostly because I dont want to pay for CBS streaming. (I mean seriously, I have 4 of these already, I'm not buying every damn service out there) but I've heard that there are several continuity issues, all though a friend of mine told me that there's a prequel novel that explains a lot of that. And I hate when movies and shows do that. I dont mean releasing novels or comics in general, but I shouldnt have to buy extra content to understand your show. The recent star wars sequels apparently did this to, where they had the back stories to snoke and everything in the books.

Star Trek Lower Decks I'm mixed on. I remember in my 20's I said to a friend that I would love a series that was star trek but from kind of the rejects of Starfleet. Of course, that was partly because I loved the anime “The Irresponsible Captain Taylor”, which in essence was that concept. But to see Lower decks....sometimes they have really good jokes, and some times they have jokes that not only just don't land, they crash and burn.

And so Finally we come to the newest project of Star Trek, Star Trek Prodigy, an animated series that was produced with Nickelodeon. Because when I think Star Trek, I think the people who brought us Spongebob. The premise is a bunch of alien kids in the delta quadrant find a federation star ship. Fully functional apparently.... and take control of it, with the help of a holographic Captain Janeway and they're going to make there way to the alpha quadrent. I'm torn on this series, partly because there's a lot of “Ok, how, why?” that pop into mind. Like why is there a federation star ship on some random ass planet in the delta quadrent. Why is there a holographic captain Janeway?” and second, there are some lines in the trailer that really make me face palm. Like when the kids are trying to figure out how to fire phasers, they ask how to make the ship “go pew pew”. Here's the trailer by the way if anyone wants to see for themselves:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBE7d8sH5Rg

I do plan on giving this a watch to see for myself, but I'll be honest, I'm not expecting much. But what do you all think? Let me know if anyone reads this.
